Doha Debates
Host: Tim Sebastian and guests Description: Televised eight times a year by BBC World News, the Debates are based on a centuries-old format, a single, controversial motion, with two speakers for and against. Once they have outlined their arguments, each speaker is questioned by the chairman and the discussion is then opened up to the audience for argument and a final electronic vote. The 350-strong audience are drawn mainly from Qatar’s student body and come from all over the Arab and Islamic world. BBC World News is seen by nearly 300 million viewers across 200 countries.
Lakom Al Karar - TV Audio
Lakom Al Karar - which in English means 'The Decision is Yours' - is a televised discussion program in Arabic, broadcast monthly on Qatar TV across the Arab world. In this open forum, young Qataris have a direct line of communication to challenge their leaders on public policy. Each broadcast focuses on a topical issue of importance to Qatar, the region and the wider Arab world. At the end of the program the audience votes on the question at hand. Issues under the spotlight have included: the rights of the disabled; educational reforms in Qatar; Qatar's currency peg to the dollar; and the Gulf Cooperation Council's attitude to the wishes of the region's youth.
The Success Principles for Living Plays on-air: These 2 minute micro programs play around the clock. Host: Jeanine Bailey, Training and Development. Jeanine's wisdom is followed by many who listen out for her short programs that challenge our perceptions of our selves and what we can achieve. Jeanine lives and works in Doha and coaches leaders and managers to expand their learning horizons.
